That is hilarious! Yes, we have an HOA, but ours is reasonable, and after four years, our dues went from $68 to $74. The property needs more repairs due to age. We're fine with it.

i guess one only really tends to hear stories about the bad ones!

True. Ours meets twice a month, so we don't need to wait long on requests, like when we changed the external paint scheme (slightly).
